Floor Attendant-Recreation
Hourly Rate: $16.25 per hour; non-exempt classification
Work Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week, to be arranged by the Fitness Coordinator, contingent upon operational need, academic scheduling, etc.
Training Period: Two months, with the possibility of extension.
General Statement:
Under the direction of the Fitness Coordinator, the Floor Attendant is responsible for providing a safe, enjoyable, service-oriented environment for members at all times.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides exemplary customer service to Recreation members.
- Represent Recreation and the U-SU in a professional manner through upholding programs, policies, and procedures.
- Serve as a role model for other Recreation student staff.
- Supervise facilities to ensure that activities are being conducted safely and appropriately.
- Educate members and student staff on policies and procedures.
- Perform opening and closing procedures at prescribed times and
- Routinely check for safety and maintenance concerns
- Respond to injuries with proper emergency procedures (first aid, CPR, evacuation)
- Compile facility reports and document all injuries and incidents.
- Proactively maintain a clean and safe exercise environment
- Assist with sanitation and preventative maintenance of weight equipment.
- Assist Membership Attendants as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled Cal State LA student with at least 8 undergraduate units and a minimum G.P.A. of 2.0, or graduate student with at least 4 graduate units and a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0.
- Certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid from either the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others or independently as the situation requires.
- Ability to take thoughtful risks, explore new ideas, be flexible, and adapt to change.
- Proficient organizational, planning, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Genuine interest in a variety of individuals and commitment to providing quality service to diverse populations.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Candidates should be reliable, self-motivated, and should be able to solve problems and make decisions based on the Union mission and guiding principles.
- Willingness and ability to work early morning, night, weekend, finals, and semester break hours.
- Willingness to work with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student body and staff.
- Ability to make decisions based on established policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Fitness and Wellness Programs.
- Display knowledge of fitness standards and risk management policies and procedures.
- Ability to provide exemplary customer services.
- Experience working in a hands-on customer service environment preferred.
